It was a magic 45 minutes. It’s a day I will never forget.’  Harry Skelton rode Politologue to victory at the Sandown Park Racecourse on Saturday  Skelton also rode Allmankind to victory at the Chapel Stud Henry VIII Novices’ ChaseSkelton is flying high now and a title contender riding for his trainer brother Dan, trainer of Allmankind. But there was a time when he started out as a jump jockey with Politologue’s trainer Paul Nicholls when it looked like a promising career might stall. That experience made yesterday’s wins even sweeter.Skelton added: ‘I rode eight winners one season and thought the whole world was going to end. But it is a rough and tough game. Paul has always said to me be patient and take your time. The afternoon I have had makes every single hardship worthwhile.’Allmankind, an uncontrollable tearaway on the Flat, has been reformed by jumps. Yesterday’s win was his second at the highest level for the Skelton team having won the Finale Hurdle at Chepstow last season.His long-term aim is the Arkle Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March here Politologue will try to retain his Queen Mother Champion Chase crown. Trainer Dan Skelton advised his Jockey brother to ‘be patient’ in his pursuit of his goalsThe Nicholls-trained chaser beat stablemate Greaneteen seven lengths to land his second Tingle Creek Chase. His task was made easier by the withdrawal of ante-post favourite Altior.But Nicholls said: ‘We were looking forward to taking on Altior. The last time they met there was a length and three-quarters between them in the Champion Chase two years ago and we think we have got this horse a lot better now.’Nicholls said Politologue’s only possible race before the Festival will be the Clarence House Chase at Ascot at the end of January.Having withdrawn Altior to avoid ground which he believed would give him a harder than ideal on his seasonal comeback, trainer Nicky Henderson looks like pointing him to the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on December 27.
